Sweetgreen for Dinner

It’s been a while since I’ve done a restaurant experience recap! (It’s kind of hard when COVID-19 rules still don’t allow us to eat inside NYC restaurants at this time!) But we order takeout about once a week currently and tonight we had an amazing experience trying Sweetgreen so I wanted to share about it!!

This was our first time trying Sweetgreen, although they have locations in other parts of the US. You can find their locations listed here.

I ordered the Harvest Bowl and it was incredible! It had so many yummy ingredients I love - roasted sweet potato, goat cheese, apples and more… It was around 695 calories I believe, and it also included grilled chicken, wild rice, roasted almonds, kale and balsamic vinaigrette. So good!!

Darrell went with a Make Your Own option and chose kale, quinoa, avocado, apples, shredded cabbage and the spicy broccoli. He didn’t realize the broccoli was spicy when he ordered it, I only noticed/questioned it when I was setting table for us to eat and was surprised because I know that’s not something he typically likes. He didn’t like it. He picked it all out lol. Said it didn’t even taste like broccoli. Otherwise, he too loved his salad/warm bowl/whatever you want to call it!

We placed a to-go order on their website and walked a few streets over to pick it up (the weather has been absolutely beautiful the last few days!!) and took advantage of the opportunity to continue Penny’s practice of sitting at cross walks while we wait for our turn to cross!! Haha She’s showing signs of improvement, in case you were curious! Overall, we’re shocked at how well she has adjusted to NYC and we joke that she has just been trying to tell us all along that she’s a city dog and this is where she’s meant to be. In Lexington, for reference, let’s just say she was NOT an angel lol!

We also loved their bowls!! Unlike some of the more popular clear plastic bowls you get from a lot of salad restaurants which are kind of tall but not very wide, these are short and wide, making it much easier to mix. They’re also great because they’re compostable! So consumer and earth friendly!

Pick up was a breeze - with the website updating our order’s progress and letting us know when it was complete, I just popped in and grabbed our bag while Darrell and Penny waited on the sidewalk.

5 stars from the Stillwells!
